The Tour to Favignana and Levanzo

di Vito

Favignana and Levanzo together with Marettimo are the 3 islands of the Egadi archipelago, opposite Trapani.

Marettimo is really far and wild, Favignana and Levanzo, on the other hand, can be reached faster from Trapani in half an hour by hydrofoil or about 1 hour by sailing boat.

Levanzo is the closest to the Trapani coast, as well as the smallest of the three islands that are part of the Egadi.

It is truly characteristic: with white houses, numerous caves and a sea full of fish to admire while practicing snorkeling.

Just opposite is Favignana, known as the "butterfly island" due to its shape, and is certainly the most "touristy".

That is the one with the greatest attendance in the summer but also with more restaurants, bars and shops.

The last and farthest is Marettimo which, being also very large, requires several days.

Favignana and Levanzo can be reached by hydrofoil from the port of Trapani or by excursion organized by selected agencies.

Important to know:

From San Vito Lo Capo they are really too far away, which is why we at the Hotel Piccolo Mondo in San Vito Lo Capo always recommend embarking from the port of Trapani and not from that of our village, reaching Trapani by bus, taxi or with your own vehicle.

Favignana by bike

One of the fastest and cheapest ways is to reach Favignana by hydrofoil from the port of Trapani so as to be on the island in about half an hour.

In this way you are free to go around the island of Favignana in complete autonomy, discovering the coves "by land" by renting bikes on site or by being transported by a small train.

In Favignana there are 20 kilometers of cycle paths, almost totally flat, which is certainly helpful even for less sporty people like me!

Here is the idea for a standard itinerary.

Cala Rossa

It is not a traditional beach, made of soft sand, but a place to dive.

It is said that this motorcycle is called a battle bike at the time of the Punic wars where the clash was so heated that the victims were many.

Bue Marino

The second stop is that of Cala Bue Marino which is ideal for snorkeling.

Lido Burrone

Here we are at a more comfortable and traditional beach.

Here you will find umbrellas and sunbeds that you can rent for your well-deserved relaxation.

It goes without saying that it is a favorite with families.

This so far treated is certainly the most "touristic" part.

Moving further and further away from the port and crossing a tunnel (it is easily feasible even by bike) you will find increasingly intimate and rocky coves, much less frequented than those closest to the area where you rented the bicycle.

At the end of the tour, all that remains is to return to the boarding points and from there to San Vito Lo Capo where we of the Piccolo Mondo will help you, if you want, to find a good restaurant for dinner, so as to find a lot of lost energy!

Favignana and Levanzo by boat

If the idea of going around, under the summer heat, by bicycle does not tickle your interest, certainly a nice day spent on a boat is better for you because you can discover not only the most beautiful places in Favignana to swim but also Levanzo !

In fact, expert skippers of companies selected by us will lead you to discover the wonderful coves of the Egadi archipelago aboard comfortable boats equipped with both awning for the hottest hours and an open area for when you want to recharge yourself with the pleasant energy of the sun.

It is possible to choose between motor yachts and sailboats and snorkel with the equipment provided by them.

Here is a program to get you an idea.

The excursion will start at about 9.30 from the port of Trapani and will end at about 18.00.

In Favignana there are stops for snorkeling in Cala Rossa, Cala Azzurra, Bue marino.

There is also a stop of one hour on the island to have lunch and then reach Levanzo.

Here the swimming stops are foreseen near Cala Fredda and Cala Minnola.

If you want to spend a day at sea in the name of relaxation and wind, listening only to the rustle of the waves, the sailing tour is definitely for you (max 10 people).

Obviously, if you are not particularly a sailboat lover, it is also possible to leave with motor boats or 9/10 m rubber dinghies in which a maximum of 12 people can be accommodated on board.

Here's why to join these boat tours:

only with small boats, swimming stops can be made inside the coves where the sea is blue and crystalline

Much larger boats (such as the motor ships that depart from San Vito Lo Capo and take an enormous amount of time), are forced to stop outside the coves, not ensuring the same unforgettable excursion.

What to bring on the boat?

swimsuit, sunscreen, comfortable shoes or flip flops, sunglasses, camera and lots of fun!

What do you find on board?

Drinks, bottled water, and snorkel gear
